Decker Names June and July 2009 Drivers Of The Month
Decker Fort Dodge, Iowa - Decker Truck Line, Inc. recently announced the company’s June and July 2009 Drivers of the Month. For June, Jeff Bostic was named flatbed Driver of the Month. Bostic joined Decker in 2002. The father of two, he resides in Geneva, New York. Bostic’s dispatcher, B.J. Waller said, “Jeff is a great and hard working guy. He is a team player and is willing to help out anyway possible.” read more
2009 National Truck Driving Championships Finalists Announced
PITTSBURGH, PA. - -- The finalists for the 2009 National Truck Driving Championships were announced early this morning after a three day competition that tested driver's knowledge of safety, equipment, the industry and driving skills. NEWBURY, Ohio - DistTech Inc., an established industry leader in dedicated and common carriage for liquid bulk commodities, has been honored by the Ohio Trucking Association (OTA) for outstanding achievement in highway safety. TruckMate Software from TMW Systems Breezes through 679,680 Orders per Day
CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Working with experts at the IBM Innovation Center in San Mateo, Calif., TMW Systems developers put the latest product release, TruckMate 2009, through a grueling series of simulated, high-volume freight bill transactions and dispatch activities performed by up to 2,000 concurrent users as part of benchmark testing for the enterprise transportation software application. Average response times under even the highest loads were sub-second, demonstrating that TruckMate 2009 running on the latest IBM DB2 Enterprise 9.5 database can easily support the transactional volumes of busy regional LTL, intermodal and truckload carriers. read more
Drivers are in a new world...are you?
Recruiting is making a comeback - slow though it may be, and you're going to need to hire drivers again soon. While you've been gone, the driver has gone through a change. A big change. Online recruiting has officially taken over. It's a new comparison shopper, magazine, billboard and radio broadcast all rolled into one. You can chat or phone in a heartbeat. It's fast and it's accurate and any driver can check out any carrier any time of the day or night any day of the week. The Internet has taken a firm hold as the logical option for drivers and carriers who are looking for the maximum return on their advertising investment. There may never be a full "recovery" per se, but you're either going to have to revise what you're doing or watch it pass you by. That's reality. read more
William H. Osborne Named to Navistar Board of Directors
WARRENVILLE, Ill. – Navistar International Corporation (NYSE: NAV) announced today that William H. Osborne, president and chief executive officer of Federal Signal Corporation (NYSE: FSS) and a veteran automotive industry executive, has been named to its board of directors.
Osborne, 49, replaces Marc Belton on the Navistar board of directors. Belton, an executive vice president at General Mills, Inc., previously announced that he would leave the Navistar board in August. Osborne has been appointed to be a member of Navistar’s finance committee. read more

Kenworth T470 Adds Second Horsepower Rating
KIRKLAND, Wash,- Kenworth Truck Company has added a second
horsepower rating for the new Kenworth T470 model.
The Kenworth T470 may now be ordered with the 9-liter Cummins ISL
engine with 365 hp and 1,250 lb-ft of torque. Previously, the T470
was available with only the Cummins ISL with 345 hp and 1,150 lb-ft
of torque.

TCA Honors Professional Truck Driver
Alexandria, Virginia - The Truckload Carriers Association (TCA) is honoring professional truck driver Richard Koss as a Highway Angel for helping a family at the scene of an accident. On June 30, 2009, Koss was driving north from Wausaukee, Wis., to Iron Mountain, Mich., when he witnessed a vehicle veer to the shoulder of the highway, overcorrect, and then flip over, landing in the middle of the road. As he called 911, he brought his truck to a stop and went to check on the passengers. read more
